Nobody likes to buy boots. So many unknowns, and most of us have bought boots that became torture footwear that you don't fully realize until a few weeks in, when you have to accept that they are not going to break in or get more comfortable, ever. Most ADV boots are just hightop hiking boots that don't offer any true ankle protection on the trail or in the event of a crash. But now I have a new favorite boot brand - these Gaerne Enduro Fastbacks fit me so comfortably they are just a pleasure to wear all day long. And walk into a restaurant or explore a visitor center without clomping around like ski boots. My Rev'it pants do fit over top if I don't want to wear my Klim pants that tuck in - it's nice to have choices. I ordered size 10 (44.5) and I have wide feet and these fit great with plenty of room in the toe box. In a street shoe my size is 10.5/11 so as explained in the videos sizing down is preferred. As a lifelong rider who is getting up in years, at 60, I really do not want a broken ankle at the stage of the game. I change bikes often, currently on a 2016 BMW F800GSA and the boots work fine with the shifter and brake controls. If you've never worn a MX-leaning boot you'll need some time to get used to it, but the peace of mind and protection is well worth it. The depth of knowledge, the honesty and quality of the videos is much appreciated as is the excellent service and fast shipping. You have a customer for life! Thank you so much!
Being unsure what size I need, I contacted Brian who gave me the perfect size recomendation. I would have ordered a size 12/47 because I normally wear a 46.5 in other shoes. Brian walked me through it and having experience, recomended the 11/46. Perfect, arrived early and no exchanges needed.
I dig the initial walk around the house and cannot wait for the snows to melt to put them to work. Happy customer here.
I wear an 11 4E shoe, and after speaking with Brian I chose the Gaerne Fastback Enduro boots. I could not be more pleased! After a couple of hours for the memory foam inside the boots to form to my ankles, the boots became extremely comfortable. Even after a four hour ADV ride in humid, 95 F weather, my feet stayed protected and comfortable.
I removed the steel toe plates (not needed for my riding style); an easy chore that took about 5 minutes.
After doing some initial research, I heard of Atomic Moto through the forums. I sent an email inquiring between the Fastbacks and the Dakar for my ADV riding needs. Well, Brian called me and talked through some options. Hook, line, and sinker, I was sold. It's hard to find anyone that wants to talk on the phone anymore and the fact that Brian was willing to, not only call me proactively, but also spend valuable time talking through my needs was a breath of fresh air!
Now, onto the boot. I was needing to replace my aging Tech 7's as I shift into a 50/50 rider on my new Tenere 700. I had planned on getting a regular ADV boot but didn't want to sacrifice protection. After talking with Brian, I was recommended the Fastbacks. These boots are incredibly comfortable and high-quality. I normally wear a size 10.5 and ordered the size 10 for the Fastbacks (per Brian's rec). They fit great with a bit of room to spare for thicker socks or insoles. I was expecting a typically stiff moto boot but these things have a generous amount of flex in all the right places without sacrificing protection in the important areas. As a side benefit, they are (imho) the best looking boots I've seen. These things just ooze quality to the point that I am surprised they aren't a $600 boot. I'm excited for some long term testing but the short term impression is a solid 10/10. Thanks for all you do for the community, Brian! Really appreciate it.
I took a tumble on my 1290 Super Adventure, and this boot took the full weight of that bike like it was nothing. I've worn them riding for 10 hours a day for 8 days. and my feet felt great at the end of every day. I am super pleased with these boots on the KTM SA and on my dirt bike.
I was having a hard time finding in between sizes in these Forma boots. Atomic Moto gets them directly from Forma so you can have it your way, to steal a phrase. The boots are plenty tough for street riding and occasional offroad. The toe box is roomy and are more walkable than MX boots.
I have over 6 months use in rocky, sandy, hardback West Texas terrain and they have served me very well. I would buy again. The fit was perfect- always a concern when purchasing online. I'm a wider size 11 and the 45 fits nicely. Quality is evident and boot is made in the EU. After ordering I received a call from Atomic just to let me know it would be shipped in a few days (not immediately), was that OK? Great job of customer service.
Boot is firm and will take time to break-in, not a great walker but a no joke foot protection beast. I've had a few dabs hitting an unseen rock or stump and the energy is absorbed by the boot and not your foot other than a sting.
Thanks, Atomic
Bought these to replace 6 inch Danner boots I wear during the summer. The Danners although good for walking leak while riding. I also have a pair of Dianese GT fulcrums which are great boots but are not great for camping. MY actual adventure riding is limited but wanted something with better traction than the Dianese and I do a good bit of moto camping but dont want to look like too much of a poser in full height boots. My Klim outrider jeans fit nicely over these. I wear a 11 1/2 to 12 shoe. 12 in hiking and running shoes and 11 1/2 in others. I went with a 46 knowing the majority of what I have is a 46 with the exception of my back packing boots which are 47s. Fit is very good and I think a 47 would have been a little too big. One pre requisite I have is I put green super feet in all my shoes except running and they feel great with them. Yes , at first they feel like ski boots
and are a little clompy but are already loosening. To sum it up I think the support they provide and the fit will be perfect for my gravel road, camping , road riding.
You can see and feel the quality in every part of this boot. Buckles are especially great. Surprising at this price point. I expect to be wearing these for a long time to come. Normally wear 10.5 shoe, but the 10 boots fit just right.
I recently purchased a BMW R1200 GSA. My past motorcycle was Victory Vision. Last year I underwent surgery for a broken 5th metatarsal on my right foot due to a freak drop of the Victory. Lost 3 months of work and riding. After purchasing the GSA, I decided to get proper foot protection right up front. After asking about my riding style and intentions, I ultimately ended up with this Forma model. I wore them for 8 hours last night and the fit is perfect at a 13. They protect all of the key areas I am concerned about and while not ballerina shoes, have been surprising comfortable to walk around the house with. Brian's recommendation is a home run and he really knows boots. I should be getting out for a days ride soon involving some rough roads and off pavement. I feel much safer knowing I have the right boot for the job. I will update later after I get some miles with these boots, but my gut tells me they will be great.
